We have three types of decoder in stock:

Tsunami series are their most advanced combined motor and sound decoders.

DSD-LC series are combined motor and sound decoders including some plug and play versions.

DSX are high grade sound only decoders for installation in locomotives that are already fitted with standard decoders or for use in dummy locos or rolling stock.

TSU-1000

The TSU-1000LC integrates a digital sound system, lighting effects and a DCC decoder into a single, miniature electronic module rated at 1 Amp. It is currently available in steam versions.

The Tsunami sound system is SoundTraxx’s new high-performance, onboard locomotive sound system. Like the DSD-150 it replaces, Tsunami integrates a full-featured sound system, four Hyperlight lighting effects, a motor controller and a DCC decoder into a single, integrated package and is compatible with the NMRA DCC standards and Recommended Practices. Unlike the DSD-150, the Tsunami sound system can also be used on ‘Analog’ layouts and controlled with a conventional power pack, though it really shines on DCC controlled layouts.

At Tsunami’s core is a true 16-bit Digital Signal Processor, or DSP, capable of executing over 120 million instructions per second. With this new level of performance, SoundTraxx was able to give Tsunami 14 functions, over 22 individual sounds, and 4 special effects including the ability to alter the exhaust sound automatically in response to changes in the engine load. The motor controller received numerous enhancements as well, including the use of high frequency PWM and load compensation. To keep the size down, only components available in highly miniaturized packages were selected for use in the Tsunami resulting in a form factor s ignificantly smaller than previous versions.

TSU-750

The Micro-Tsunami TSU-750 sound system is SoundTraxx’s new high-performance, onboard locomotive sound system. Like the TSU-1000, the Micro-Tsunami integrates a full-featured sound system, two Hyperlight lighting effects, a motor controller and a DCC decoder into a single, integrated package and is compatible with the NMRA DCC Standards and Recommended Practices. The Micro-Tsunami sound system can also be used on ‘Analog’ layouts and controlled with a conventional power pack, though it really shines on DCC controlled layouts. This "micro" decoder will fit into most HO and many N scale locomotives, and is rated for a stall current 0.75 Amps.

LC Series

LC Series Digital Sound Decoders (DSD) are small modules providing the benefits of today’s DCC technology with the addition of high quality, digital onboard sound. Each DSD installs inside your locomotive and integrates a full featured digital sound system, sophisticated lighting effects and a DCC decoder into a single, miniature electronic module.

DSD-101LC
The DSD-101LC integrates a digital sound system, headlight and backup light and a DCC decoder into a single, miniature electronic module. The DSD-101LC comes in seven models; three for Steam engines and four for Diesel locomotives. This decoder comes equipped with an NMRA-compatible 8-pin plug for easy installation.

Plug and Play LC Decoders
SoundTraxx has Plug and Play Digital Sound Decoders to suit a wide variety of steam and diesel models. These include decoders for the Stewart Century HO C628/C630 (DSD-C628), and the Life-Like HO 0-8-0 (DSD-LL080), both of which come with speakers and baffle kits.

Other Plug and Play decoders are those that fit multiple models and manufacturers and do not come speakers or baffles since they can do many-duty service. They include decoders which will fit a variety of HO diesel models manufactured by Athearn, Atlas or Intermountain (DSD-AT100). The DSD-LL110 is designed for some recent HO Life-Like diesel locomotives.

DSX Series

SOUNDTRAXX's DSX digital Sound System provides the same advanced sound effects you've come to Sound decoders in a smaller package which can be installed in any locomotive or piece of rolling stock. Add sound to your already decoder-equipped locomotives or install the DSX in a dummy locomotive . . .no motor required. The DSX will behave just like our Digital Sound Decoders, with all the same prototypes and features. Their small size (1.45" x 0.625" x 0.32") makes installing them in some cramped diesels and small narrow gauge steam engineseasiere!

SoundTraxx DSX Sound Systems are available in both Steam and Diesel versions, each featuring a full spectrum of sound effect for each prototype. The superb sound quality will bring your models to life with such realism as you have never dreamed!
