MS026P Jinty 3F Sound File For Zimo MS Decoders V22.11 By Digitrains
Please spend a few moments reading this sound guide as it may answer some questions you have and will help you achieve maximum satisfaction from this Protodrive sound project.
What is Protodrive?
Protodrive is a Digitrains branded sound scheme that has been developed in conjunction with Paul Chetter and our technicians in house. With these style of sound files some sounds are dependent on certain conditions i.e. Stationary or Driving, where others give random sounds based on a function to give the user more play value.
Working Brake Key
Our Protodrive sound projects are set up to use F2 as a working brake key. When reducing the speed of the loco F2 can be applied to slow the train down at a fast rate. The button can be held down to come to a stop quite quickly, or dabbed to slow the loco down faster that coasting, but smoother than slamming the brakes on – much like a real locomotive.
F5 Second Set
Two chuff sets are used in our Protodrive sound files – a heavy and a light. The default is heavy engine mode, replicating the loco really working hard to pull the train behind it.
Volume Control
Digitrains’ sound project give you two ways of adjusting the sound volume, depending which you find easier to use is the best way! F27 will reduce the overall volume whilst F28 will increase it. When using the F-keys you must turn them off once at the desired level.
Zimo sound projects also use CV266 to adjust the volume, 64 being default. We recommend keeping below a value of 120 to prolong the life of the speaker and the decoder – this value is the maximum when using F28.
Speed Dependant Whistles
This project contains 6 different Hooter type whistles. Split 3 and 3 between F3 and F4, the faster you go, the longer the tones!
Speed Related Flange Squeal
Our latest Protodrive sound projects also include speed related flange squeal. When above speed step 20 you will notice that the flange squeal changes. Flange squeal is controllable through F9 but will only play when moving and under 50 speed steps.
Function Handbrake
F11 acts as a functioning handbrake. The locomotive must be stationary to activate it. When engaging this function, instructions can be heard given from the driver to the fireman instructing them to apply the handbrake. The locomotive will not move with F11 active.
Speed Dependant Detonators
Another feature of our latest Protodrive sound projects is the use of speed related detonators. When engaging F18 you will hear a series of three minor explosions to inform the train crew that the train in front has broken down or had an accident. This are placed at a fixed distance between one another on the track so the faster you go, the closer together the detonations are.
Guard’s Whistle and Response
Before departing a station on a passenger service use F16 for the guard to blow his whistle. Turning F16 on, only when stationary, will play one of ten different guards’s whistle included in this sound project. When the driver is set to depart, disengaging F16 will play one of four acknowledgement whistles in response to the guard’s whistle.
Air Pump
Some locomotives were fitted with air pumps, some weren’t. If your model has an air pump fitted then F17 can be turned on. Once engaged the air pump will start clanging away, charging the brake system. After this initial “charge” if F17 is left then the air pump will randomly start playing when the brake system needs recharging. Once the locomotive comes to a stop again, the brake will recharge again, playing the air pump sound.
