The LR101 sends information back to the command station LZ100, such as occupancy of a block or activation of a contact.
Information stored in the command station can be accessed by any unit linked to the XpressNet, for example the Hand Held LH100, the Tower Cab LW100 or by software through the Computer Interface LI100F or L1 USB.
The command station polls all connected Feedback Encoder LR101 in series. This process lasts approximately 30 msec. Only the LR101 encoders with a change in status are transmitting information back to the command station.
A transmission from an LR101 needs app. 2 msec, which adds to the polling time. The length of the total cycle is therefore dependent on the number of status changes.Function of the LR101
As mentioned earlier, the function of the LR101 is to send status information to the LZ100.
In detail, the process works as follows:
•If a connection between one of the status lines and one of the terminals is made or severed, the LZ100 is informed about it on the next polling.
•Such a connection can be made in several ways, e.g the use of a Reed switch .
•The occupancy detector represents a similar connection, if there is a current draw in the connected track.
The idea of Digitrains was conceived over the dinner table and grew very slowly as doubts calmed missionary zeal. We finally took the plunge in January 2005 and are fortunate to be dealers for some of the best and most user friendly DCC equipment available.
