In the 1950s the BTC replaced old fashioned steam locos with a wide range of mainline diesels for front line service.
North British designed and built this diesel Hydraulic D6300 class using German designed MAN engines and Voith designed transmissions built in house under license. Used on the Western Region these small locos were sometimes called Baby Warships being effectively mechanically half of an NBL class 41, D600 Warship. They were all withdrawn by 1972 as a small non standard class of diesel loco and none were preserved.
The idea of Digitrains was conceived over the dinner table and grew very slowly as doubts calmed missionary zeal. We finally took the plunge in January 2005 and are fortunate to be dealers for some of the best and most user friendly DCC equipment available.
